MM's Coffee Break is a smoother, unisex lavender perfume but it does have masculine undertones too. If you find that R.E.M is too masculine, you might have the same opinion on Coffee Break. To me, it even smells like it could fit a more mature young man? IMO, R.E.M could suit a boy in his late teens - early 20's whereas Coffee Break would best fit a young man getting close to 25 or even older. Coffee Break is still relaxed and youthful but it's definitely more mature too. R.E.M is sweeter and still has that "one of my very first perfumes" vibe.

Oh my goodness, why do I like this so much? I'm not a gourmand lover (at all); I generally like florals, musks and aquatics, but was interested in trying out lavender in a perfume. I love using lavender essential oil in my bath and cleaning products, diffuser, etc, but I wondered how that would translate to perfume, especially women's perfume. Somehow or other I became conscious of this perfume and sniffed it at Target, later bought a travel spray, and found myself buying a FB the very next day.

Could they have switched the bottles when they bottled them? Lol. I wasn't smelling the tester vial, I was spraying strait from the tester bottle.

For me, it is a fragrance that I want to wear in grey autumn or winter weather, when I sit at home with a cup of tea and enjoy the rain outside. It accompanies me for some time, five to six hours the lavender is with me and becomes softer and softer. The lavender gives it a masculine touch, the sweetness of the caramel rounds it off in such a way that it can be worn regardless of gender. I feel like I can smell all the top notes for quite a while, the scent doesn't change much throughout the day. I also think this perfume is quite feminine but not in a really young or over-the-top way, it's quite subtle in the best way possible. I can still see why some people say it's unisex though. I think sillage is moderate, I have gotten compliments on it even after it's been on for hours. On my skin pretty much all the Ariana Grande scents last including this one. I feel like I can get through a full 8-hour work day and still smell wafts of it around me. It does become more subtle and intimate after maybe five or so hours though. I can imagine the fragrance very well as a cuddly scent or simply in the evening to relax, because of the lavender note.She's sweet, she's aromatic, she's relaxing, she layers beyoootifully with Zara Fields of Nightfall aka Zadig & Voltaire This is Her. The character of the perfume I would describe as romantic, cozy and mysterious - perfect for an evening for two. This was a really nice one for me. I think if I was trying to get something new that I liked I would get this. It's one of those fragrances that you're not sure if your head over heels for or if you just like it. I love lavender and this is one of my top 5 favourite perfumes ever. I crave it. I want it. Half of the time, I will start off my day with one perfume and end with this one.

That being said, I don't think I'll be repurchasing, because it doesn't project as much as Id like it to, and the lasting power is poor. Once it's sprayed, it sits close to skin. Twilight from Lush is a really good comparison. R.E.M is more complex but that is the closest comparison. Using Lush Sleepy body wash and lotion would be a good base for this to increase longevity in my opinion. This lasts a long time on me, but it seems that varies greatly from person to person. How nice that after 'Ari' and 'Moonlight' (my favourite fragrances) I like an Ariana Grande perfume again. But I knew that 'R.E.M.' had to move in with me just because of the gorgeous bottle. So I didn't care that many people compared the fragrance to 'Cloud', which I don't like at all... I’m not usually a fan of sweet lavender but this really does it for me. The caramel and marshmallow do make it sweet, but it’s not cloying. It reminds me of a dessert you’d get at a Michelin starred restaurant. Like a salted caramel and lavender s’more with tonal creme under a salt dome with sandalwood air upon removing the dome. The dry down is like a cozy hug. And isn't that funny, how different fragrances from different houses smell more like flankers, compared to actual flanker releases being shilled at the minute! *eyes slowly shift to Angel Elixir*) It takes some getting used to. I'm really confused by the notes listed here because I thought the "thank you, next" perfume smell very buttery and salty. I didn't smell any saltiness or butter in this at all. I had wanted to try ariana grande's perfumes for a very long time. However, since I live in a country with hot and humid weather, I stay away from gourmands as much as possible. Same goes for most AG perfumes, I fear that all of her perfumes smells great in air conditioned room but not outside of the mall. R.E.M is also great layered with Cloud. I would do 2 or 3 sprays of R.E.M for 7 sprays of Cloud (yes I'm an oversprayer 🙈). I found that it amped up the lavender in Cloud and made it less sweet. I would get compliments from my therapist, coworkers and a friend that doesn't even like sweet scents that much.
