Now that most of us use Wi-Fi everywhere in our houses for everything from looking at cat pictures to streaming music, Wi-Fi transmission is practically free. Using Wi-Fi also means that you can see your monitor feed from work or your phone — even while you’re traveling. The internet is really the only way to get that kind of amazing flexibility. One thing that concerned us when we first started testing the DXR-8 PRO was the small green power light on the front of the camera (see photo below). Question: How do you change the viewing camera when using multiple cameras with the Infant Optics DRX-8? Requires charging daily: The monitor uses a 2800mAh lithium-ion battery, which takes up to seven hours to charge. It lasts about 10 hours on standby mode and six hours with continuous video monitoring, so you will need to charge it daily. But, at least you can still use it as it charges.

My brother bought a stand alone HD 1080p video quality camera to monitor his kids. However, you must have a WiFi connection to set it up on. They also needed a separate audio monitor solution with the setup they chose. Also, they have to monitor the camera with an app, which based on our real-life experience with the DXR-8 would no longer be a consideration for us. A feature most users are looking for the split-screen viewing. That is, if you have more than one camera, you should be able to view them simultaneously as both displays take an equal portion of the screen. In my opinion, it is fortunate that DXR-8 doesn’t have it. Its 3.5 inches screen is too small to watch multiple screens at the same time. Instead, you can easily switch from one camera to another with a press of a button. From the 360p standard definition, the video resolution has been upgraded to a hi-definition 720p display. The LCD screenon the parent unit has also been expanded from 3.5 inches to 5 inchesallowing you to see clearer and more details. It also has better brightness. The images are sharper and more colorful, which makes viewing your kid more pleasing to the eyes. Infant Optics uses the same closed-loop FHSS transmission to ensure that the only person who can watch your baby is the person using the parent unit. Flaws of the DXR-8 old version

Monitor Testing

The range you can use this monitor at is great, and it was the most immune to interference or drop-outs. The screen is also the biggest, which makes it easy to see what’s going on in night vision mode. Combined with full pan/tilt control, this is a solid video setup on paper. Rather than making you read through the entire article, here are the main things we liked and disliked about it: We have been using the Infant Optics DXR-8 video monitor for 1 year now and felt we could now give an accurate review.

Answer: No. While you can add up to four cameras to one parent unit, you will be able to see only one camera at a time. The Infant Optics DXR-8 does not have a split-screen mode. The handheld display monitor measures 3.1 by 6.5 by 0.8 inches (HWD) and features a 5-inch screen with 1,280 by 720 resolution. It sports a much more intutive interface than the original DXR-8, which is important, since you're accessing everything using four function buttons and a D-pad (which controls navigation and pan/tilt). Dedicated buttons for volume and brightness are on top. Display size: With a video monitor, there’s a big difference between watching a blurry lump and being able to clearly see your baby.In our transmission range test this model also sits right in the middle: it’s nothing amazing, but for monitoring a room on the other side of your house it should be sufficient. When we took the monitor out to the detached garage there were some spots where the signal didn’t come through, but we always found a spot where it worked. Then you've got the Hubble, where you get a lot for the price, but it seems you get what you pay for. Probably decent if you like tweaking things and problem solving.
