Unlike more affordable alternatives, the Pro 1 does have a battery notification LED on the handle. It will flash red when the power is running out. A full recharge takes up to 12 hours. The battery LED will flash green whilst charging, before turning off once complete. If the Oral-B Genius is an Audi, the Oral-B PRO 2 2000N is a Skoda. Same company with so much value for the money.

In all honesty, for many of us we don’t need this because we are often at home and the charging stand is the natural place to leave the brush when not in use, thus the battery is constantly topped up. You can learn more in my comparison of the Pro 600, 650, 800 and 750 that goes into more detail about the differences and similarities.With regards to the Oral-B 1 series specifically; it has limited box contents which reduces its weight during transportation compared to others that come with more items. The box could be made a bit smaller, saving space and resources. It is fairly basic, but perfectly functional. It will hold the brush handle and up to 2 brush heads. This protects them from getting damaged or the handle accidentally activated when in transit. The slight downside is that the textured rubber surface makes it easier for toothpaste residue to build up. Without regular cleaning, I have found a white coating appears. Oral-B has for many years built pressure sensors into their toothbrushes and the Pro 1 is no exception, but the configuration here isn’t optimum. Another neat design feature is the rear-mounted pressure sensor, which illuminates red to tell you you’re applying too much force and pressure to the teeth during cleaning. Acting as a visual indicator, it really helps to make you more aware of any bad brushing habits you've fallen into thus reducing the chance of you doing any damage to the teeth. It’s a simple yet clever design detail that works exceptionally well and helps you to brush your teeth the way your dentist would want.

But, it comes down to versatility. Not all of us have a power outlet in our bathroom for frequent recharging. If you go away on holiday for a week or 2, you don’t really want to have to take the charging stand or worry that your brush will run out of power.As I explain later in the battery life section of this review, sealed inside the handle is a NiMH battery that lasts up to 10 days on a single charge. Most Oral-B brushes actually last 14+ days when charged. You’ll need to spend a bit more to get a brush that offers this. However, the vast majority of electric brushes from other brands offer in the region of 3-4 weeks of use on a single charge. Many even last far longer. A pressure sensor is one of the features our dentists recommend is present in a good electric toothbrush. This is because many people have a tendency to scrub their teeth and brush with more force than is necessary. Doing so will damage the teeth and gums over the long term and isn’t as effective at cleaning the teeth in the short term either.

The Pro 1 680’s handle is water resistant. This means a rinse under the tap, or even used in the shower should be fine. Just make sure you don’t fully immerse the brush in water. White in colour with blue leaf pattern on the case supplied with white gripped handle (exceptions may apply)This is because Oral-B brushes typically sell at 50% less than retail, so you appear to be getting a ‘deal’. With some variants you will get a design printed on the case. This is a leafy pattern and is typically pink or blue in colour. It makes the case stand out a little more and be a little less boring.

Few of us actually need our brush to last all that long. It’s unlikely to be a major inconvenience if we have to recharge. In fact, many just leave their brush on the stand when not in use, this is fine. Then again I am not all that surprised, because as far as I am aware, the Pro 1 680 has the same battery as the original Pro 680 and the Pro 600 brushes, which for as long as I can remember have been advertised with a 1 week battery life. What’s more, it delivers an excellent clean, with three modes – Sensitive, Daily Clean and Whitening – that take you all the way from a softer brush that’s easy on the gums to a more intense polish that should help get rid of staining. Battery life, meanwhile, is exceptional; you’ll easily get through two weeks of brushing and probably three without a recharge. It’s the king of sensibly priced brushes and one of the easiest recommendations in the Oral-B range. It’s a pink one but that’s fine by me, I dont care about the colour too much and Pink is Cool! Regular price 100€ and it was on sale for 50€, good price, fair price for sure. It’s not a cheapo value electric toothbrush, but also not a high-high end one. No need to get a high end one, In my opinion. Reply Both handles have a newer design compared to older models from Oral-B, so there isn’t quite the same proven history and reliability with this particular brush. Up to a point. Oral-B’s CrossAction, FlossAction, Precision Clean, Sensi and 3D White brush heads work across brushes in the Vitality, Pro, Smart and Genius lines, but iO Series brushes have their own specific Ultimate Clean and Gentle Care heads.
