Hannah: Having had such a successful launch in the US, the business saw a great opportunity to rollout the product in Europe, leading with Germany to continue growing a strong brand in a large rum market. With its smooth, rich flavor and versatility, Captain Morgan is the perfect base for a variety of fall-inspired drinks. It marries bold notes of apple carefully balanced with Captain Morgan’s unique signature taste, the new Sliced Apple drink offers a unique delicious twist on everyone's favourite captain.Laura: When I worked on this project, I was in the role of Innovation Commercialisation Manager for Rum, Non-alcoholic and Baileys, my role was to set up the ambition and the scale for our pipeline of innovations within those areas. We define the commercial and executional plan that will lead to a successful launch for our consumers, customers and for Diageo. Hannah: Whilst it is exciting to launch a product that is going to delight consumers, the most challenging aspect is being bold and predicting what will successfully disrupt and change consumer behaviour. Laura: For our Captain Morgan’s Sliced Apple project, a big part of the plan was the creation and execution of a first to market opportunity for some customers and channels so we could add extra value to them as strategically important customers. This was a huge team effort and we’re really excited for what this can deliver, and for the market wide launch. I love the combination of the apple flavor and ginger beer. The drink is very similar to a Moscow Mule but with fall flair. It really is a very simple, but festive drink. Ingredients Using a jigger, measure 50ml Captain Morgan Original Spiced Gold and 125ml apple juice into the glass.

I have made this drink both in a high ball glass and a Moscow mule mug and I do recommend the mule mug. It keeps it cold longer and doesn’t water the drink down. Products Captain Morgan Sliced Apple Spirit Drink is available in Asda stores across the country now, with a wider roll out in other retailers due next Spring. Tell us how this innovation came about? What it was like behind the scenes to get this to launch and into the hands of consumers?

So, the new Sliced Apple Rum features the brand’s iconic spiced rum infused with bold notes of sweet, juicy and crisp sliced apples. It also has a subtle hint of ginger to give you that warm taste. Overall, this fully-flavored rum will bring more life to any party. It could also refresh and soothe your mind if you prefer to have a moment to yourself. Captain Morgan just came out with a new product called Captain Morgan Sliced Apple Rum. Which is a spiced rum flavored with juicy, crisp apple. It makes a delicious fall drink that can be found in a liquor store near you.
