Description

This distribution is very close to JELOS in terms of emulators being configurable and being lightweight, however, as custom development continues separately from the original OS you can expect it to start to diverge more. OGA 1.1/RGB10/RGB10s/RGB20 ( Will not work for the the RGB20s!) - GDrive | Mega | (Updated 10/06/2023) MD5:8E864F5B0088DFEB7261E4D66C4AE05A | Changelog | RGB10 - FAQ Credits and Thanks GameForce for providing the Chi hardware to developers like myself so I could release this OS on it

The four shoulder buttons this time around are all on the corner of the handheld and tiered next to each other. Due to the horizontal design this time, they sit perfectly where your fingers will go when holding the device. Once again, they are of excellent quality and very comfortable to use compared to the RG353V.ANBERNIC has kept in their lane with this device and tweaked it efficiently over the last two years to a point where it’s close to perfect. I’m not going to go over the specifications or how well it plays games as it is identical in both those areas when compared to the RG353V, so I would recommend reading the original review for the for that device to help you decide whether this one is worth buying. DO NOT USE BALENA ETCHER WITH THIS IMAGE. There has been reports of various strange issues and inconsistent performance using Etcher for this image. If however, you’d like to have the latest and greatest updates available for your emulators and want an improved experience then you should consider installing a CFW. On your first boot of the OS make sure to open System Settings (start button) and enable the “Device is RG353V” option. This will fix your missing audio issues.

With the RK3566, expect the device to be more of a portable N64 and Dreamcast emulator as games from up to these systems will run pretty well. On N64, games like Star Fox and F-Zero X run smoothly at 60fps while Dreamcast titles such as Crazy Taxi 2 and Sonic Adventures perform similarly. My first ever home console was the SEGA Mega Drive and again this works flawlessly, and because of the 4:3 display the game sits perfectly inside of the screen with bright saturated colours and nostalgic music coming from the speakers below. This is another console I found myself going to alot. Image quality, I thought, was really good, but the viewing angles aren’t as good as I’d hoped they would be compared to the RG353M. You need to be looking at the screen head-on; otherwise, the image becomes darker. It’s not a major issue for me, but for those who get a little too excited when gaming and move their hands or head a lot, they may be affected by this. The TF1 slot contains the SD card for your Linux OS. To replace this card, you’ll need to flash one of the Linux operating systems onto this new card. For this, you can use a smaller SD card of 8GB or so as it will only be used for the OS going forward. See my guide for Installing Custom Firmware (CFW) on the RG353 In the hand, the RG405M feels lovely and offers a premium device feel, and as with the RG353M, it’s made from aluminum alloy, and it’s incredibly comfortable and smooth to hold. Build quality is superb and weighing in at around 250g, it’s portable whilst still feeling like a very premium product. The first firmware is JELOS which stands for Just Enough Linux. This is a lightweight linux distribution with many customization options available per emulator.

I recently wrote an article about the new Anbernic RG353V gaming handheld and how the company had released a vertical gaming handheld that ran on both a Linux & Android OS. In the article I praised the RG353V for being a great hybrid handheld. Not only that, but it had a fantastic screen, could play most games really well, even up to PSP (but sorry, no God of War), and it was super portable due to its size. So we can see that the RG505 performs roughly between up to three times as much as the RG353 series and up to twice as much as the RG552, let’s see how that transforms for emulator performance. Emulator PerformanceTo prepare this card properly to be read by both systems, you need to first boot into the Android system (remove card from TF1 slot) and place your blank SD card into the TF2 slot once the OS is running. This will allow you to format the card as external storage readable by the Android OS. On the Linux side of things, the experience is fairly better, even if it doesn’t support the touch screen, as it is more streamlined and especially if you like to tinker with your device to customise it to your liking. You can install custom firmware which have been around for other RK3566 devices and edit the UI. Further support on Linux can be expected as a strong community has developed over the chip and system, with the custom firmware already receiving regular updates. They’re well position, incredibly responsive and curve around the corners allowing for a good amount of touch points. Note: Cores running through Retroarch will have the prefix “Retroarch:”. Emulators/cores without this prefix are likely standalone emulators, which will run outside of Retroarch.
