Description

The story has a similar great mix of mystery and adventure, a fast pace, and creative steampunk world-building.

Di Moonlocket, aku diajak menelusuri masa lalu Robert dan kaitannya dengan Jack Wajik dan Berlian Bulan Darah. The surprises kept coming, and the author manages to weave emotion into the proceedings of the story and truly is laudable. This ambitious debut is set in 1896, but in an alternative history - almost steampunk - with clockwork servants, silver airships and mechanical animals.

Lily struggles with her father’s overprotectiveness and wishes she could prove herself, and Robert especially has to make some difficult decisions. I loved having a chance to expand the characters of Lily, Robert and Malkin and take them off on a new adventure — one filled with catastrophe and courage, hidden lockets and escaped convicts. I have even talked the head into a little revamp of the library so that we can display them properly! I really totally adored this book, and look-forward to seeing the faces of the young people (and old people) who get to be part of this special, extraordinary world.Your selection was perfect for our children and what really made the difference was your ability to engage with each child, discuss their interests and help them to choose a suitable book based on your extensive knowledge of the books you were selling. It also discusses what it means to be different, what family really is, how it feels to loose someone close to you, and if love also means trust.

Eight months after their hair-raising adventure in Cogheart, we find Robert at Brackenbridge Manor with Lily, her papa, Malkin and the rest.

Peter lives in North London with his partner, a fox who visits their garden, and a clutter of house spiders. The characters are brilliant and the writing style is wonderful - Peter Bunzl has created a world I don't ever want to leave! Jack Door was a little predictable and stereotypical, but I enjoyed the moments were Finlo doubted Jack and wasn't the "perfect villain". An exhilarating adventure full of mystery and intrigue, written with ingenuity and an empathy that touched the heart. A prisoner who goes by Jack of Diamonds is on the loose and hunting to find his rare diamond he lost and the moonlocket.

Bronnie is so lovely with the boys and we also felt that having a man enthusing about the books set a great example. There was still the whole steampunk-element, and I rather enjoy the British language and style, but the story didn't really captivate me. I received a copy of this book from the publisher, Jolly Fish Press, and the author via netgalley in exchange for an honest review. There is an evidence base which shows a strong correlation between literacy levels and health outcomes.
